Ok so here is an actually answer that might help you. Anytime you dismiss Serana she will go to the dawngaurd castle. IF you can't find her there then she is glitched. Sometimes she will not return to dawngaurd even after you dismiss her. She will just stay were ever it was that you told her it was time to part ways.
