But I was required to take a DOT physical and drug test in day one when I got my CDL back in 2018. It says they do in the paper work but when I took my dot physical before starting school I did not get drug tested. That's correct. As long as you communicate issues correctly then you will not be hit with a service failure. And service failures do not go against your driving record or your MVR. With loads going about 3 to 6 hundred miles on average. Reefer dose have more stops on it but we get paid stop pay. My loads average about 1000+ miles. I had sent an application into the folks at Ozark Motor Lines out of Memphis and spoke with the recruiter there. She's seeing me up with an orientation date after graduation. The pay is $18 per hour for a programming/tech support job that was offered to me with no benefits. However, with time I can build up my resume and land a higher paying job w/benefits. The I.T. experience would amp up my resume a lot. I have been studying programming for 2 years by being self-taught.So I joined up with Western Express and signed that 12-month contract/agreement last year May 2019. I worked with the company up until mid July 2019 (one and a half months total) and left because I had military duties (National Guard training for a month long).These trucking companies have a tremendous fuel bill and they are constantly trying to figure out ways to trim it if even just a little.
